Robert R. Johnson, PhD, CFA, CAIA, CLF

EIA Founder, Chairman & CEO

Bob is currently a Professor of Finance in the Heider College of Business at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska where he researches Federal Reserve monetary policy, creates curriculum content and contributes to media relations. 

From 2014 to 2018 he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of The American College of Financial Services, an accredited, degree granting, non-profit institution in Bryn Mawr, PA.  

From 1996 to 2011, he held a number of senior executive positions at CFA Institute (including Deputy CEO) and was responsible for all aspects of the renowned Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) Program.  

 

He is the author of multiple books and over 80 scholarly articles on portfolio management, asset valuation, wealth management, and monetary policy.  He is co-author of the books Invest with the Fed, Strategic Value Investing, The Tools and Techniques of Investment Planning, and Investment Banking for Dummies.  Warren Buffett has selected Strategic Value Investing for the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting Reading List for each of the past four years.

Bob served as editor of the Quarterly Journal of Finance and Accounting, and on the editorial boards of the Journal of Wealth Management, and the Journal of Portfolio Management.

He is a regular columnist for El Mercurio (Chile), and The Hill.  His articles have periodically appeared in Fortune, Barron’s, The Street, and The Huffington Post. He is frequently quoted in prominent financial publications including The Wall Street Journal, US News & World Report, Forbes, CNN Money, CNBC, The Financial Times and other prominent publications. He has appeared on ABC World News, CNN, CNBC, Fox Business News, Bloomberg TV and Radio, among others.

 

Bob is the recipient of the 2013 Alfred C. “Pete” Morley Distinguished Service Award from CFA Institute, the University-wide Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Student Award for Teaching Achievement from Creighton University and was three times named the Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year at Creighton’s College of Business.  

 

Bob holds the CFA charter, the CAIA charter, the CLF designation, a BSBA degree from University of Nebraska-Omaha, an MBA from Creighton University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
